The Numbers
In 2018 there were 681 homeless youth in Metro Vancouver between the ages of 13 and 24.

72% of these youths are struggling with a mental illness

42% of these youths identify as Aboriginal or Indigenous.

26% of these youths are part of the LGBTQ+ community.

The Reality
The numbers don't show the bigger picture...

There are many others who are unaccounted for.
​
Many other children, teenagers, and young adults are still unrepresented, living on the streets, in shelters, couch surfing, and living in an unstable living condition.
The Future
A future where all youth have a place to call home where they are safe from danger .
A future where no child, teenager, or young adult goes hungry.
A future where all adolescents have proper access to healthcare and hygiene products.
A future where stigma around homeless youth is abolished.
Envision
Part of Envision is to work with organisations such as Covenant House to raise awareness about health and hygiene amongst homeless youth. Homeless youth some of the most vulnerable people in Vancouver. In a society that grows more and more economically and financially prosperous, there is an entire community that gets left behind: the homeless.
Our mission is to bring people together and discuss this issue and find ways that we can provide aid to homeless youth. This comes in the form of advocacy, donations to responsible charities, and direct work with the community.
As part of the UN rights of the child, "Children have the right to a standard of living that is good enough to meet their physical and mental needs". It is our job, as fortunate people from all walks of life, to ensure that this right is available to all youth.
